Antigua and Barbuda is expecting a significant increase in cruise tourism numbers for 2017 compared to a year earlier.
Tourism Minister the Hon Asot Michael told ABS news that the destination is expected to see a bumper cruise season and is bullish on the numbers.
Meanwhile, Antigua and Barbuda and two other Caribbean destinations have collaborated to assure the major cruise lines they are open for business despite the passage of recent hurricanes.
Tourism Minister, the Hon. Asot A. Michael, as well as his colleague from St. Kitts, the Hon. Lindsay Grant, and St Lucia’s Tourism Minister the Hon. Dominic Fedee, led a delegation to a recent series of meetings in Miami, Florida.
They met with high-ranking officials of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Carnival Corporation, and Norwegian Cruise Lines.
The three destinations assured that they collectively had the capacity to fill some short-term berthing gaps caused by the destruction in neighboring ports.
