APUA To Bring A New Desalination Plant On Line In Barbuda By The End Of This Month

Barbuda is poised to become self sufficient in the supply of desalinated water.

Production Engineer within the Water Business Unit Ian Lewis says a new reverse osmosis plant should become operational on the sister isle by the end of this month. Technicians are currently carrying out the necessary tests.

The facility will boost water supply on the Sister Isle up to about one hundred thousand gallons per day.

According to the APUA official, Barbuda currently has no surface water that is tapped by authority.

Lewis says that once the new plant is operational, the facility should accommodate the entire population of Barbuda.
