haitii_153935435Haiti says it will mark the fourth anniversary of the January 12 earthquake that killed more than 300,000 people with a “day of remembrance and reflection” including a wreath laying ceremony in the north of the capital. President Michel Martelly will lay a wreath at the site of Saint Christophe, north of here, where thousands of the earthquake victims are buried. The French-speaking Caribbean Community (CARICOM) country is still struggling to rebuild its infrastructure following the destruction caused by the powerful earthquake that had a magnitude of 7.0 and left more than a million people homeless. Haitian authorities said that the national flag will be flown at half mast, clubs and other similar places will remain closed, and radio and television have been invited to schedule programmes and play appropriate music on January 11th.
