Information Minister Announces Restructing of National Broadcasting Service

St. John’s Antigua – Come December 1st, the Antigua and Barbuda Broadcasting Service… Government Information Service… and the New Media Unit will merge into a single organization.

Minister with responsibility for broadcasting the Honorable Melford Nicholas unveiled the plan Thursday, during a meeting with staff of each of the government entities.

He also announced a number of managerial changes, as part of government’s restructuring of the national broadcasting service.

Former banker, with over 20 years of senior management experience, Erna-Mae Brathwaite, has been appointed as the new general manager of the national broadcasting service.

Trevor Parker has been named Director of Technical Services… Everton Barnes is the Director of News and Current Affairs, Alex Nicholas is Director of Government Information Services and Nasheta Richards is director of programming.

In addition to the restructuring of management, ABS Television will roll out one of its new programmes under the new structure on December 1, with a 7 AM news magazine programme called Antigua Barbuda Today.
