PM BROWNE CONGRATULATES SVG ON ELECTION TO UN SECURITY COUNCIL
 
Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne has extended congratulations to St Vincent and the Grenadines on their election to one of the non-permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council. St Vincent and the Grenadines was elected overwhelmingly, receiving 185 votes while El Salvador received 6.
In a congratulatory letter today to St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister Browne says “I have every confidence that St Vincent and the Grenadines will give a strong voice to the causes of small states in the Security Council…Antigua and Barbuda is proud of St Vincent and the Grenadines and we send our best wishes for a successful tenure on the Security Council and we assure you of our unstinting support.”
St Vincent and the Grenadines will serve on the most powerful organ in the UN system for 2 years, replacing Peru as representative from the Latin America and Caribbean region.
