PM Spencer Dispels Claims of Non Nationals facing Discrimination

Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Baldwin Spencer is dispelling claims by the opposition leader that non- nationals seeking work permits, or time in the country, face discrimination.

The Prime Minister Spencer contrary to the accusations being made, the immigration department honored some two thousand; five hundred work permits last year. He maintains though that the department border protection measures must be administered

The nation’s leader maintains that his administration has in many ways addressed the immigration challenges faced by none nationals.

St. George MP and Education Minister Dr. the hon. Jacqui Quinn-Leandro who supports the bill, expresses concern at gaps that exist among non-national students in Antigua and Barbuda, and their obligations to the immigration department. She wants greater linkages between the two offices to curb the problem.

The re-visited Immigration and Passport Act repeals previous legislation.
