Police Commissioner says no glass bottles during Carnival

Vendors should not be allowed to sell drinks contained in glass bottles during Carnival.

This pronouncement is coming from Police Commissioner Wendell Robinson, who discloses that he has written to Minister with responsibility for Public Safety, the Hon. Steadroy Cutie Benjamin, suggesting there be considerations towards legislation in this regard.

He details why thought should be given to such a legislation

Commissioner Robinson also stressed that although persons should not be held in custody for more than forty eight hours, there are provisions giving a magistrate permission to extend the time.

His Comments followed the same sentiments of Chief Magistrate, Joanne Walsh on Tuesday, positing that there will be no bail for accused criminal offenders until after carnival.
