Prime Minister Responds To Critics Of NAMCO

Prime Minister, the Hon. Gaston Browne has sought to allay concerns in some quarters regarding the establishment of the National Asset Management Company (NAMCo).

It will be a holding company which will manage and invest the returns of government’s investments into private sector enterprises.

The nation’s leader asserted that that it is difficult for him to understand why some professionals are finding it difficult to grasp the concept.

He added that his administration is confident that the company will provide tremendous opportunities for Antiguans and Barbudans.

Prime Minister Browne said that the government will ensure that the company becomes the largest and most profitable entity in the OECS.

He noted that by purchasing shares in NAMCO, Antiguans and Barbudans will automatically have shares in West Indies Oil Company, State Insurance Corporation and ECAB among other properties.
