School Reopens In Barbuda From Next Monday

The Ministry of Education has decided to open the Sir McChesney George Secondary School over on Barbuda from Monday.
Director of Education Clare Browne says the decision comes after a thorough assessment in consultation with officials from the National Office of Disaster Services.
During the assessment, it was found that some eighty students are on the sister isle who have not been able to continue their schooling. Classes for both primary and secondary students will be held at the school.

Browne explains that five primary school teachers and eight secondary school teachers will be able to return immediately.
He was quick to add that its not just a matter of picking up and go for parents who wish to re-enter their children into the school system on the sister island.
He says their first stop will have to be at the Ministry of Education here in Antigua.
