UMBERTO SCHENATO TRANSFERRED TO FIENNES FOR REHABILITATIVE TREATMENT

Murder convict, Umberto Schenato has been transferred to Fiennes Institute where he is now undergoing rehabilitative treatment.

The elderly Italian man was sentenced to 20 years in prison November 2016 after a jury found him guilty of murdering his ex-wife Edda Schenato.

The prison inmate was 73 years old when he stabbed the woman to death in the parking lot of Epicurean Supermarket June 3, 2013.

Prison Superintendent, Lieutenant Colonel Eugene Phillip says the now 80-year-old man was in hospital for an extended period after falling and damaging his hip.

Lieutenant Colonel Phillip assures Schenato remains a prisoner under his authority and is under guard while recovering at the government-run elderly care facility.
