LABOUR MINISTER ON PUBLIC HOLIDAY AND HOTEL WORKERS
Labour Minister, the Hon. Steadroy Benjamin hopes a special arrangement can be carved out as it relates to hotel workers and public holidays.
Several hoteliers complained that guests were left waiting for rooms and meals since many scheduled staff members refused to show on Whit Monday.
The Labour Ministry has since met with stakeholders to discuss the issue and further discussions are scheduled for July 8 at The Verandah Resort and Spa.
The Labour Minister shares his personal view on the issue.
He calls on workers to be responsible as their actions have far reaching impacts.
Nonetheless, the Minister says no decision will be made until consensus is sought at the summit on July 8.
