CHARGES IMMINENT FOLLOWING ATTACK ON POLICE OFFICERS

Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney says charges will be laid against individuals who attacked a team of law enforcers in St Johnston Village on Sunday night. The Police Chief has also condemned the actions of rowdy residents who reportedly pelted officers with stones and other missiles. A law enforcer was left nursing a serious injury to his leg, while a service vehicle was damaged during the brawl. Commissioner Rodney says the officer was rushed to hospital but has since been discharged. Police had responded to reports individuals were breaching traffic regulations as well as the limit on social gatherings amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Several individuals were taken into custody as the probe into the incident continues.
