Antigua and Barbuda is receiving major exposure after one of the UK’s most successful reggae bands used scenes around the island to shoot a new video to one of its international hits.

Some of the island’s iconic scenes provide a backdrop to the video for UB40’s 1998 smash hit, Come Back Darling.

This campaign is being used to encourage tourists back to the Caribbean after three major hurricanes ripped through the islands in September.

The campaign, spearheaded by Virgin Holidays, aims to show that the islands are open for business.

Managing Director of Virgin Holidays, Joe Thompson, said
the economies in the Caribbean are very dependent on tourism and this was one of the best ways to show support.

According to independent.co.uk, new research shows that a third of UK travelers are less likely to visit the region because of the belief that every Caribbean island is storm-damaged.

Both Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez attended the video’s filming at Mary’s Shack bar.

Fernandez thanked UB40 for visiting Antigua, and noted that he is looking forward to welcoming more UK visitors in 2018.”
