A&B COUNTS DOWN TO HISTORIC HOSTING OF CHOGM 2026

Antigua and Barbuda is now immersed in preparations to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), scheduled for Novemeber 1-4, 2026. It will be the twin-island state’s first-ever hosting of the biennial event, which brings together heads of government from the 56 members of the grouping, their delegations and international organisations. Some 7,000 delegates are expected to gather in Antigua for the event, the largest-ever event to be hosted in the country.

Commonwealth Secretary General Shirley Botchwey is in Antigua and Barbuda to hold discussions with key stakeholders in preparation for CHOGM 2026. Botchwey visited the American University of Antigua on Tuesday, the main site for the event.

The Commonwealth is a voluntary organistion comprising countries spread across every continent, representing a third of the world’s population.
