ABEC Facing Woes Over Voter Registration

abecWith the decision handed down by the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court on April 28 paving the way for general elections in Antigua and Barbuda, the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) is still facing challenges in finalizing voter registration.

The commission has printed a new list of persons who are required to make minor corrections to complete their registration.

The list sees All Saints West with 61 persons being recalled, 53 in All Saints East and St. Luke, St. John’s City West with 93, St. John’s Rural East 16, 101 in St. Peter’s, St. John’s Rural South with 12, 3 in Barbuda, St. Mary’s South with 60, St. Mary’s North 21, 11 in St. John’s City South, St. Paul with 25, 92 in St. John’s Rural North, St. Phillip’s North with 46, 38 in St. George and St. John’s Rural West with 284.

Amendments to be made include the retaking of photos, rescanning of documents, signature, finger prints, birth certificate, parent’s birth certificate, documents, photo identification, marriage certificate and passport,

To facilitate the process, ABEC will be open on Saturday May 3 from 10am to 6pm.
