ABLP’S Randy Baltimore Secures Emphatic Victory in St Philip North By-Election
The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s Randy Baltimore is the new Member of Parliament-elect for St Philip North, following a decisive victory in Monday’s by-election in St Philip North. Baltimore polled 924 votes, to the 406 by the United Progressive Party’s Alex Browne.
Baltimore won all seven boxes, amassing his most emphatic margins of victory in Willikies and Newfield.
Jubilant ABLP supporters celebrated the victory with rapturous cheers at the Glanvilles Community Centre.
The result ensures the governing ABLP retains the seat which had previously been held by Sir Robin Yearwood for 50 straight years. Baltimore had been a close aide of Sir Robin during campaigns in the constituency.
The by-election was announced after Sir Robin’s resignation on February 18. Baltimore has emphasized infrastructural work and increased opportunities for constituents as seminal elements of his platform.
