The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s candidate for St. George, Dean Jonas, says claims that he recently brandished a firearm while on the campaign trail, are lies.
Mr Jonas uses a media release to deny having or displaying a firearm, arguing the opposition United Progressive Party has grown desperate as “their defeat in the upcoming elections becomes more evident.”
The ABLP release claims the UPP’s candidate and his operatives intentionally trailed Jonas in an SUV outfitted with speakers December 31.
It says the UPP team’s actions almost led to a physical confrontation.
The release says electors can expect daily lies and false claims from the UPP as the campaign continues.
The ABLP says the lies are intended to achieve what it calls “the snake-like ends to which all serpents aim.”
The police say they have received a formal complaint that a firearm was displayed during Dean Jonas’ campaign incident.
Police spokesman Inspector Frankie Thomas says investigations are ongoing into the allegation.

Certainly someone took a picture of him? Everyone has a camera these days. Any Witnesses?
