An Alleged Drug Offender Is On Remand

A 41 year old man has been placed on remand for his alleged involvement in a major drug bust.

Deon Perkins is behind bars for the time being in connection with the seizure of cocaine valued at almost 12 million dollars.

Perkins, a resident of Union Road, Hatton was denied bail when he appeared in the Magistrates court on Friday.

The Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy reported the man was caught with 286 bricks of the illegal drug.

Reports are Perkins was at time driving a vehicle along the Sir George Walter Highway when he was pulled over by law enforcers last Wednesday.

The drugs reportedly have a combined weight of 740.8lbs and carry an estimated wholesale value of Eleven Million Eight Hundred and Seven Thousand, Six Hundred and Forty EC Dollars.

Perking had previously been arrested and charged by the ONDCP in connection with another cocaine seizure in June 2014.

He is scheduled to return to court for committal proceedings for this latest matter on March 8.
