Another Drug seizure At One Of The Nation’s Ports Of Entry

A 33-year-old Barbadian was on Sunday arrested, after he was allegedly found with almost eight pounds of cannabis at the VC Bird International Airport.

Police say he is expected to be charged in connection with the offence.

Reports are that the man was one of several passengers to arrive in Antigua on Sunday aboard the Caribbean Airline Flight #459 from Kingston Jamaica.

Officers attached to the Narcotics Department, who were on duty at the airport, became suspicious of him and conducted a search on his suitcase.

The search revealed two false compartments inside his suitcase. Sixteen packages of compressed cannabis were discovered in the compartments, weighing about 7 pounds.

The suspect was arrested and taken into custody, along with the suitcase and its contents.
