Antigua and Barbuda and Malta Discuss Cooperation Ahead of CHOGM 2026

St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda – The Honourable E.P Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda, met with the Honourable Dr. Ian Borg, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism of the Republic of Malta, on the margins of the Commonwealth Foreign Ministers Meeting in London.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Greene and Deputy Prime Minister Borg discussed Antigua and Barbuda’s preparations to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) from 1st to 4th November 2026 in St. John’s and explored opportunities for cooperation in support of the upcoming event.

Both officials discussed the possibility of Malta supporting the technical requirements of the Commonwealth Youth Forum, one of the key forums held alongside CHOGM. He noted the importance of ensuring strong youth engagement and effective technical delivery for the forum, which provides a platform for young leaders across the Commonwealth to contribute to policy discussions and the future direction of the organisation.

Dr. Borg welcomed Antigua and Barbuda’s leadership in hosting the 2026 meeting and expressed Malta’s willingness to support preparations where possible. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to the Commonwealth and expressed confidence that CHOGM 2026 will be a successful and impactful gathering for the Commonwealth family.
