ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA RECEIVES OVERWHELMING OAS SUPPORT FOR RESOLUTION ON NICARAGUA
Antigua and Barbuda has led a resolution at the Organisation of American States which has received one of the highest levels of support in the history of the hemispheric body.
The resolution calls attention to the ongoing situation in the Central American country Nicaragua and advocates for free and fair elections as well as respect for human rights in that country.
It was supported by 27 of 34 members.
The resolution was co-sponsored by the United States, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay.
Antigua and Barbuda’s ambassador to the OAS, Sir Ronald Sanders says this sends a clear message to the Daniel Ortega government in Nicaragua which he hopes has been heeded.
