ANTIGUA & BARBUDA COMMEMORATES INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PARLIAMENTARIANISM
The United Nations earmarks June 30 each year as International Day of Parliamentarianism.
Parliamentarianism is the cornerstone of functioning democracies, and the Day calls for an examination of the system in terms of strength, transparency, accountability, and representation.
President of the Senate the Honourable Alincia Williams-Grant says Antigua and Barbuda continues to uphold the hallmark of excellent representation. She adds, given time to reflect, the country has done a remarkable job of seeing more women and youth in both houses of Parliament.
In celebration of the day,, the National Youth Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda will hold a sitting today to discuss two amendments to current legislation.
