BARBUDA SEES SIGNIFICANT INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES

Major infrastructure development is transforming Barbuda through a 31 million US dollar Caribbean Development Bank loan and additional government investment. The renovated Barbuda Council Administrative Building now provides modern infrastructure for effective governance and service delivery.

The new National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) building, completed earlier this year, strengthens hurricane preparedness and response capabilities following Hurricane Irma’s 2017 devastation. The Community Centre has been rehabilitated and retrofitted to serve as an emergency shelter while maintaining its role as a gathering place for meetings, celebrations, and cultural events.

The Ministry of Works is now completing the design phase for a new multi-purpose center that will also function as an emergency shelter.

The projects are being advanced by the Project Implementation Management Unit within the Ministry of Works, with support from UNDP, the Caribbean Development Bank, and the European Union.
