BARONESS PATRICIA SCOTLAND STAVES OFF CHALLENGE TO RETAIN COMMONWEALTH SG POST
Commonwealth Secretary General Baroness Patricia Scotland remains in the post after staving off a stiff challenge from Jamaica’s Kamina Johnson Smith.
The vote took place at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting taking place in Rwanda’s capital Kigali.
She will continue as Secretary General for the remaining two years of the four-year second term after the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in an extension of her first term.
Earlier, Baroness Scotland outlined the slew of pressing global challenges and how the 54-nation grouping should respond to these.
