The Board of Education is issuing new laptops to third form students in government schools.

Today, The BoE facilitated the return of eBooks from third form students in return for laptops at the Antigua Grammar School.

The school’s principal, Sam Roberts says the transition to laptops for these students will help them access more tools for online learning.

Meanwhile, teachers at AGS received their laptops yesterday.

The BoE’s Information Technology Coordinator, Jem Lafraichere says, it’s essential that teachers have the necessary devices to instruct students.

Third form students are being handed laptops in the first phase and fourth and second formers will be given laptops in the second.

The first phase is expected to be completed within two weeks while the second is to be finished within a month and a half.

About 1900 laptops will be given to secondary school students in public institutions while 800 teachers in both primary and secondary public schools will benefit from the drive.

The laptop initiative is a partnership between the BoE and private donors- Roger Ver, Sir Martin Franklin, and The Jumby Bay Fund.
