BOAT THIEF WHO ILLEGALLY ENTERED ST. KITTS IDENTIFIED

The man who reportedly stole a boat from the Perry Bay wharf and made good his escape to neighbouring St. Kitts has been identified.

He is David Frederick Smith aka Charlie who is originally from St. Kitts. He was apprehended in the Buckley’s Development Area in St. Kitts after arriving illegally on the island early Tuesday.

Smith has been resident in Antigua for more than three years and came to prominence when he was recorded in March after stealing a woman’s handbag then jumping into the St. John’s Harbour before being captured by Coast Guard officials.

Smith had been released on bail facing several charges in the Courts.  He is currently serving a 14-day quarantine period in St. Kitts and has been tested for Covid-19. The initial results have been negative.
