BURGA RECEIVES TWO LIFE SENTENCES

Calvin ‘Burga’ James received two life sentences on Thursday for the murders of his niece Tahisha Thomas and his nephew’s fiancee’ Sanchezca Charles.

He was also sentenced to 11 years for attempted murder of his niece Amanda James, 15 years for shooting his nephew Lawrence James with intent, and 4 years for causing grievous bodily harm to his sister Ineta Liburd with intent.

The charges arose out of violent incidents from May 2015 and October 2018.

James admitted he attacked his sister Ineta Liburd and her family members over a long-standing property dispute with her.

The woman, who left the country out of fear of her brother, says her life has been ruined by the chain of events.
