CALL FOR NEW REGIONAL MENTAL HEALTH PARADIGM IN MEMORY OF PM BROWNE’S LATE MOTHER
There is a call from the Jamaica Gleaner for Caricom states to launch the Patsy Richards Initiative – a regional mental health plan named in honour of Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne’s late mother.
Prime Minister Browne had opened up about his mother’s struggles with mental illness and the toll it took on their family, during his emotional eulogy for his mother.
An editorial in the Jamaica Gleaner argues this should trigger an overhaul of mental healthcare in the region.
