CARIBBEAN COURT OF JUSTICE RULES ON GUYANA ELECTIONS

The Caribbean Court of Justice, the CCJ, has thrown out the decision of the Guyana Court of Appeal regarding the March 2 general elections. According to Stabroek News, Guyana’s Highest Court of Appeal threw out a controversial decision by the Court of Appeal that used the word ‘valid’ to determine the votes in the election. The CCJ also said the report of the Chief Elections Officer, Keith Lowenfield, cutting over 115,000 votes, is of no effect. This clears the way for the main Opposition PPP/C to be declared the winner of the elections.
