Caricom Reform Consultations Reach Antigua
The Change Facilitation Team based at the CARICOM Secretariat Headquarters, is on island engaging stakeholders in a series of consultations which started on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister, Members of the Cabinet, Leader of the Opposition, private and public sectors, labour, and other civil society groups will all be a part of the discussions geared towards a process of reform for the CARICOM Secretariat.
General Consul at the Secretariat, Safiya Ali explained the rationale behind the reform.
Consultant, Maria Mason-Roberts said the team hopes to reach a wide cross section of persons between Tuesday and Wednesday and shared some of the areas of focus.
Ambassador Dr. Clarence Henry was appointed as the National Change Driver for Antigua and Barbuda and is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the Change Process at the national level.
Last year, Heads of Government agreed that it was necessary to re-examine the future direction of the Community and the arrangements for carrying this forward which would include the role and function of the CARICOM Secretariat.
