CARPHA DOES NOT RECOMMEND MONKEYPOX TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS
The Caribbean Public Health Agency says it is monitoring the spread of the monkeypox virus by looking at prevention and control.
The Trinidad-based health agency also confirms it has commenced testing for the monkeypox virus.
It is making it clear it does not recommend restrictions on entry of people from any country at this time.
CARPHA’s Executive Director, Dr Joy St John is also urging health authorities in the region to remain on high alert for the importation of viral or other infections.
The reminder comes as Dr St John acknowledges that member states are in various stages of easing restrictions for covid-19 which has severely impacted the region and the world.
