CIVIL AVIATION MINISTER PRAISES RESPONSE TO AIRPORT EMERGENCIES

Civil Aviation Minister, Hon. Charles Fernandez, says he is pleased with the response of the Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority and the country’s first responders to the two emergency landings at V.C. Bird International Airport on Thursday.
An Amerijet cargo plane which departed Miami en route to St Maarten was forced to make an emergency landing shortly before 11AM, after encountering problems with its flaps.
Less than 10 hours later, an Air Canada flight with 120 people on board was forced to make an emergency return, after a warning indication about its landing gears. Minister Fernandez tells ABS News air traffic controllers had been well-prepared and executed their functions with aplomb
