COVID-19 BARREL INITIATIVE UNIQUE
The Covid-19 barrel relief initiative is unique to this country.
That assertion comes from Comptroller of Customs Raju Boddu as he provides an update on the initiative embarked on by the government in April of last year.
Participants importing barrels of food and other personal items, benefit from a reduced Revenue Recovery Charge Fee and are exempt from import duties and ABST.
Boddu describes it as a social programme.
As of cutoff time Monday, 16-thousand 1-hundred and ninety-five barrels have been cleared by the customs and excise division.
The programme is slated to end Friday April 30.
