DEMOLITION IN PROGRESS AT HALCYON HOTEL TO MAKE WAY FOR ‘ROYALTON CHIC’

Demolition work is underway at Halcyon Hotel in Dickenson Bay to make way for the addition hundreds of rooms to the country’s room-stock. The property will become Royalton Chic, with phase one set for completion and re-opening in November 2023. Over 500 jobs will be created upon completion of the project.
It will see the addition of 227 rooms in the new Building F; 8 new water bungalows will be added to the property’s Northwestern landscape in the second phase.
Construction crews are now engaged in the demolition of the structures to the far North of the property. Sections of the old property will be refurbished with several new restaurants, spas and a state-of-the-art gym facility to be added.
Tourism and Investment Minister, Hon. Charles Fernandez says: “I am absolutely delighted that work has commenced on this project that will not only add to our hotel room stock, but which will create employment opportunities for Antiguans and Barbudans in various areas.”
Several local companies are engaged in work on the project which is being overseen by the Blue Diamond Group.
