DROP SLEEP SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS FOR MURDER

Omarley “Drop Sleep” Henry has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing his girlfriend in 2016.

The defendant stabbed 22-year-old, Shariece Henry to death during an altercation at his home in Perry Bay.

He pleaded guilty to the offence February 8 and subsequent psychiatric report showed he was not suffering from any mental illness.

Justice Stanley John began with a starting sentence of 45 years, which was reduced to 30 in consideration of the guilty plea and expression of remorse.

Henry, who was an immediate suspect in the killing, went into hiding for several days.

During this time, a recorded telephone conversation surfaced, and the man was heard recalling the circumstances of the incident.
