ECLAC PROJECTS 8% GDP GROWTH FOR ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA IN 2022
Antigua and Barbuda’s economy is projected to grow by 8 per cent this year.
The forecast comes from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, the regional commission of the United Nations.
If realized, this level of growth in real Gross Domestic Product would place the twin island state in the top five fastest recovering economies in the region.
Guyana is expected to grow the fastest in the hemisphere at 49 per cent, followed by St Lucia at 10 and a half per cent, The Bahamas at 8.5 per cent and St Kitts at 8.1 per cent.
However, this forecast is in the shadow of the strong headwinds caused by global challenges such as inflationary pressures.
These have been triggered by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and global supply chain issues.
