ECONOMIST EXPECTS ‘STEEP INCREASE’ IN INFLATION FROM NEW TRUMP TARIFFS

New tariffs announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday will trigger increased inflation in Antigua and Barbuda and the rest of the region.
The warning comes from economist and University of the West Indies Five Islands Principal, Prof. C. Justin Robinson, who says there will be short and medium term pain.
The economist says inflation could climb by a further 2 to 3 percentage points.
He was speaking with ABS News in the hours after the US President announced universal 10% tariffs on all imports.
These will go into effect on the 5th of April, in a watershed moment for global trade
