ECONOMIST SAYS DECLINE IN NON-PERFORMING LOANS IS A POSITIVE SIGN FOR THE ECONOMY

Economist and Principal of the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, Professor C. Justin Robinson says a decline in the number of non-performing loans points to more people keeping up with their debts.

Data from the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank show these loans are now around three per cent, down from about 16 per cent in previous years.

Prof. Robinson says that shift usually means more people are working and able to pay on time.
