EGG PRICE INCREASE ON PAUSE AS CABINET INTERVENES

The increase in the wholesale price of eggs has been put on hold, following talks between cabinet and members of the Layer Farmers’ Association on Wednesday.

It was agreed that an accounting firm is to undertake a study over the next 60 days, to determine the unit cost farmers incur in egg production.

A poultry board is also to be established, which will determine the cost for poultry products.
