FESTIVALS COMMISSION FINALIZES PREPARATIONS FOR UPCOMING CARNIVAL EVENTS

The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission is brimming with confidence about a memorable staging of Antigua’s Carnival. The Commission’s deputy chairman, Senator Michael Freeland, speaks with ABS News on the eve of the first official event at Carnival City, the Calypso Monarch Semifinals, highlighting the strong momentum heading into the carnival festivities.

He praises the success of Auntie Claudette’s Kiddies Fete held on Sunday, which drew thousands of patrons to the Antigua Recreation Grounds for a day of family-friendly festivities.

Preparations are well underway for Saturday’s Mr and Miss Teenage Pageant, with Carnival City buzzing with activity on Wednesday. From backhoes to saws, multiple teams are working to complete the venue’s transformation.

Senator Freeland expresses optimism for a successful and well-attended carnival season, noting the strong start and public enthusiasm.
