FIRE AT COOKS LANDFILL TO TAKE “A FEW DAYS” TO BE FULLY EXTINGUISHED

General Manager of the National Solid Waste Management Authority, Daryl Spencer has confirmed it will take a few days to extinguish a blaze at the Cooks Landfill.
A fire broke out in an area with shredded tyres Friday morning, sending thick plumes of smoke billowing into the air.
While it was largely brought under control Friday afternoon, sections of the landfill have flared again.
Mr Spencer provided an update to ABS News Friday evening.
