First Batch of CCTV Cameras Installed
A landmark national security project, which will see the instillation of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras which has an estimated value on over US 2 million dollars,is reaching the end of the first phase.
The initiative is being made possible through a public private partnership between of government and telecommunication company Digicel.
The public sector will be monitoring the cameras that will be visible in St. St. Johns.
Some 28 CCTV cameras are to be installed in 12 locations in the city alone and there are further expansion plans.
The government has previously announced that by September of this year, a total of 110 cameras will be installed across the country and the project is being tested as it unfolds.
The instillation of the CCTV cameras is being described and a major development in the twin island state’sNational Security Strategy.
