WEATHER FORECAST
FLASH FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 4PM TODAY
The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services says a flash flood advisory remains in effect for Antigua and Barbuda until 4 this afternoon, as Tropical Storm Jerry continues to move away from the Leeward Islands.
The twin-island state has been drenched by showers and thunderstorms from the cyclone as its centre passed north of the islands last night into this morning. Preliminary figures from Met Office indicate that between 4 and 9 inches of rainfall has been recorded across the nation over the past 15 hours. One weather station recorded 9.2 inches of rainfall over the period.
Several streets on both the mainland and sister island were flooded this morning, resulting in schools and many businesses being shuttered.
