Gender Affairs Minister Samantha Marshal Calls For An End To Gender Based Violence As A Woman Is Killed In The Country’s Latest Homicide

The Honourable Samantha Marshall is issuing a clarion call for violence against women to end. This comes following what has now been recorded as the country’s 4th homicide, with the death of Monique Michelle DeCastro.

Minister Marshall, under whose purview falls issues related to Gender Affairs, is therefore encouraging all communities to “STEP IT UP”.

Minister Marshall speaks to this as she expresses condolence to the bereaved family.

She continues that as the minister with responsibility for Gender Affairs, she deems it necessary to reaffirm her commitment.

The honourable minister reiterates the Government of Antigua and Barbuda’s assurance to end violence against all, and more particularly, women and girls.

This is in keeping with the prescribed dictate of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women.
