Government Advised That Antiguan Based University Under UWI Umbrella, Good Move
As plans advance for the formation of the Antigua-based University, Government is being advised that having the institution under the umbrella of the University of the West Indies is a wise move.
Government’s Chief of Staff Lionel Max Hurst says Principal and Pro Chancellor of the UWI Cave Hill Campus in Barbados, Sir Hilary Beckles, made a presentation during Wednesday’s Cabinet session.
And the information he presented cleared up misconceptions.
He says any decision made will be done in the best interest of the people of the country.
The University of Antigua and Barbuda is currently being constructed in the Five Islands community.
The structure was earmarked for another secondary school, when Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne made the decision to make it the site of the University of Antigua.
