Government Expands Housing Aid as Supplies Shipment Set to Arrive Next Week
Critical building supplies will arrive on island next week to support a national housing assistance programme aimed at improving conditions for vulnerable and low-income households.
The shipment, approved by Cabinet months ago, is expected to accelerate repairs and upgrades across both the mainland and the sister island of Barbuda.
The government says the materials will be used to address urgent structural needs, including roof repairs, reinforcement works and the replacement of rotting boards and leaks, with the aim of reducing unsafe living conditions.
In addition Government will offer a waiver on all duties and taxes on all building materials to include blocks and cement, up to a total value of $100,000.
