GOVERNMENT INCREASES FUNDING FOR DENGUE RESPONSE AS CASES RISE
The Health Ministry is reporting an increase in dengue cases, but says this is not being regarded as an outbreak at this point.
Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr Teri-Ann Joseph says confirmed cases for the year so far have already surpassed the figure for all of 2019, which was previously the year with the highest case-count.
Dr Joseph says this increase in cases of the viral infection exceeds projections for this period.
She says the Government has provided more resources to strengthen the response, including the purchase of additional equipment to target the Aedes Egypti mosquito, the vector for the virus.
