GOVERNMENT MOVES TO REIMBURSE OVER ONE MILLION DOLLARS IN CXC FEES
The Education Ministry is in the process of reimbursing over one million dollars to parents and guardians who had already paid fees for their children to sit CXC examinations in May/June, 2026.
Director of Education Clare Browne says the Ministry has reimbursed schools, which are currently in the process of returning the funds to parents.
Director Browne adds, “some people travelled…. and so now everybody is back, school is about to start again, then those parents that have not received a refund can look forward to receiving that refund.”
This fulfils a commitment made by the government, following Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s announcement in his budget presentation in December that the Government will cover these fees going forward.
It is part of the administration’s efforts to cushion inflationary pressures, while ensuring students are not barred from sitting examinations due to financial challenges.
