GOVERNMENT RECOVERS $10M FROM DEALERSHIP IN THE WAKE OF UNAUTHORIZED VEHICLE PURCHASES

The Government says it has recovered ten million dollars following investigations into the unauthorized purchase of vehicles.

The cabinet says restitution has already been made by one dealership, even as discussions continue with others, as part of efforts to tighten financial controls and accountability.

Prime Minister and Finance Minister Hon. Gaston Browne confirms it will be a set-off against monies owed to the vehicle dealer by the government.

When prodded by a social media user to name the dealer, the prime minister responded that the aim is restitution for the people, not shaming.
