GOVERNMENT SPENDS OVER $25MILLION ON CANCER CARE
Health Minister, Sir Molwyn Joseph, has reported the government’s high spending on sending patients abroad for medical treatment, particularly for cancer, since the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) returned to power in 2014.
Speaking during the budget debate, he said between 2021 and 2025, the government spent approximately $25.1 million.
It has been reported the local cancer centre is expected to reopen in the first quarter of 2026, featuring advanced stereotactic radiotherapy technology, which is expected to help reduce treatment costs.
